Does the library charge fines and fees for overdue and lost materials?

Answer

No and yes. The library does not charge Drew patrons daily overdue fees for circulating books.

Circulating items overdue for 35 days are automatically assumed to be lost and a per item replacement charge is placed against the borrower’s account. Replacement fee is $90.00 per item plus a $10 processing fee. The library will also accept a replacement copy of the same edition (an edition with the same ISBN and in good condition) plus a $10 processing fee.

Overdue notices are sent to Drew University email accounts. Follow-up courtesy calls and emails may be made. When an item is assumed lost, library borrowing and recall privileges are suspended until the book has been returned or the replacement fee has been paid. Library fees are transferred to Student Accounts.
